Histology
The SCIF has a Leica Histocore Arcadia paraffin embedding station and access to shared sectioning instruments (Leica CM1850 cryostat and Leica SM2010R sliding microtome) . We do not have an approved recharge histology service and at present tissue processing, embedding, sectioning and staining is being performed by Dr. David Gravano on a collaborative basis. Please contact him for information on utilizing histology resources or setting up a collaboration.
Cell Culture
The SCIF has four biological safety cabinets (tissue culture hoods) and four incubators that are available for use. Our facility is also stocked with all the equipment you will need for basic cell culture, including a Sorvall hanging bucket refrigerated tabletop centrifuge, inverted fluorescent microscope, water bath, and refrigerator space. Our tissue culture rooms are currently available to UC Merced labs. Please contact us regarding your cell culture needs.
